05 Jun Why “African Diaspora”?
This year’s theme invites us to reflect on the journeys, resilience, creativity, and cultural contributions of African peoples throughout the Americas and the world.
Capoeira itself is one of the most powerful expressions of the African Diaspora—born from resistance, preserved through community, and passed from generation to generation through movement, music, and tradition.
As we gather for this Batizado, we celebrate not only new cords and graduations, but also the history and cultural legacy that unite us all.
📚 Special News: Book Release
One of the highlights of this year’s Batizado weekend will be the release of our new educational and cultural project:
“Nossas raízes Africanas / Our African Roots”
Created by
Professora Iguana, Professora Ciranda & Graduada Rara
During the event, families will have the opportunity to:
✨ See the official release presentation
✨ Participate in cultural activities connected to the book
✨ Celebrate the students and community who helped make this project possible
We are incredibly excited to share this labor of love with our Capoeira family.
