Honoring a Legacy – Welcoming Mestrando Cascão

This year, we are beyond honored to welcome a true mestre of our Capoeira lineage: Mestrando Cascão, Luiz Fernando Pereira Monteiro. Born in 1971, Mestrando Cascão began his Capoeira journey back in 1983/84 through a social project in Santo Amaro, Brazil. That first spark was ignited under a student of Mestre Camisa, and by 1986, he found his way to train directly under Mestre Camisa at the legendary Associação in Botafogo.

His legacy is deep: not only has he led Capoeira in Portugal since 1999—specifically in Guimarães and Braga—but he also spearheaded the ABADÁ-Capoeira Angola implementation and the Center for Research and Origins of Capoeira (1996–1998). Today, he coordinates ABADÁ-Capoeira in Portugal, Angola, and South Africa. We are thrilled to learn, train, and celebrate with him during our anniversary week!
