🖤 Honoring Black Women in the Fight for Justice
This Black History Month, we pay tribute to the incredible Black women who played key roles in the fight for civil rights and equality. Their courage and perseverance remind us of the essence of Capoeira—resilience, strength, and the power of community.
🔥 Harriet Tubman: The ultimate warrior of freedom, she led over 300 enslaved people to liberation through the Underground Railroad. Like Capoeira, she used strategy and movement to evade oppression and bring hope to those in need.
🔥 Rosa Parks: Her refusal to give up her seat on a segregated bus sparked a movement. Just like in Capoeira, where a well-timed movement can change the game, her act of defiance shifted the course of history.
🔥 Coretta Scott King: A leader in her own right, she continued the fight for justice beyond Martin Luther King Jr.'s passing, advocating for human rights, peace, and equality—values that Capoeira embodies in every roda.
As we train, sing, and play, let’s reflect on their legacy and use our own movement to create change!
