Capoeira is a unique martial art from Brazil that offers countless health benefits for all ages. By incorporating a dance-like sequence of body movements with enchanting Afro-Brazilan music and rhythm, Capoeira is fun way to improve balance, fitness, flexibility and strength. This class is adapted to older adults with a focus on mobility, balance and flexibility. Students will also be invited to sing traditional songs and play hand-made instruments from Brazil.

Each session is carefully tailored to meet student needs and capabilities. Come experience this positive-energy art form that was recognized by the United Nations in 2014 as a protected cultural heritage of humanity. All students will be invited to ABADÁ Capoeira Marin’s Annual Graduation Ceremony will happen on JUNE 10, 2018. Save the date!

This ceremony is our biggest event of the year - all of our Marin students gather together to celebrate each other's growth. A Capoeira Master from Brazil and top level teachers from all over the world come for this event.

Every youth capoeira student gets a capoeira nickname, given by the teacher, and new cord represent- ing their growth. For youth, the level of the cord is decided mostly by age, but we also let our students know that how they behave at home and in school also impacts our decision-making.

While we urge all students to participate in this special event, it is completely optional. At the end of the year all students will be invited to ABADÁ Capoeira Marin’s Annual Holiday “Roda,” on Sunday, DECEMBER 16, 2018. Save the Date! Location to be determined.
