Special Aulão with Mestra Márcia Cigarra, Professor Jabuti, and Guests

December also featured a remarkable aulão led by Mestra Márcia Cigarra, Professor Jabuti, and other esteemed guests. This masterclass was a celebration of connection and learning, giving participants the opportunity to train alongside and learn from some of the most inspiring figures in the Capoeira world.

Pajama Capoeira & Special Guest Class

We wrapped up the year with a playful and cozy Pajama Capoeira session, bringing the community together for a joyful roda filled with laughter, unity, and fun. Special guest instructors added extra energy and inspiration, making it a memorable way to close out 2024.

This year’s Zumbimba was an unforgettable event, held for the first time at the historic Quilombo dos Palmares. Here's a recap of the highlights:

📚 Book Launches, Two significant works were unveiled:

🚶🏾‍♀️ A Walk of Remembrance:
On Saturday morning, participants embarked on a 7 km walk up the Serra da Barriga, honoring victims of a tragic bus accident. This act of solidarity was a powerful tribute to those lost and a show of support for their families in União dos Palmares and beyond.

🎭 Group Presentations:
Saturday evening brought the magic of collaboration as groups of 40+ capoeiristas created and performed stunning 30-minute presentations. Each group tackled 15 creative tasks, showcasing the depth of Capoeira’s art and culture. This tradition has been a Zumbimba staple for 25 years!

🎉 Sunday: Troca de Cordas:
The weekend wrapped up with a Troca de Cordas for select Instrutores and the announcement of new Mestres and Mestrandos, who will graduate at the World Festival in Rio next year. A powerful moment of recognition and community pride!

Instrutora Ciranda's Spectacular Victory at Jogos Brasileiros de Capoeira 2024! 🏆

We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievement of Instrutora Ciranda, who is bringing home the Big Trophy at the Jogos Brasileiros de Capoeira 2024!

Competing in the Baobá category, Instrutora Ciranda showed exceptional skill, grace, and the true spirit of Capoeira, taking the stage with her captivating and dynamic performance during the competitions.

But that's not all! She was also awarded Best Games in three different styles: Benguela, São Bento, and Siriuna. Her mastery of these diverse techniques left everyone in awe. Parabéns, Ciranda! You’ve made us all proud. Your victory is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and passion that define our Capoeira community.
