Get ready to meet one of ABADÁ Capoeira’s most sought-after global leaders: Mestrando Pretinho. Coming from Barra Mansa, RJ, Brazil, he will be this year’s Guest of Honor for the annual batizado week, October 16th-20th.
Mestrando Pretinho is an internationally renowned singer, songwriter, and musician, as well as a former champion of the ABADÁ Brazilian games. He has led ABADÁ-Capoeira Barra Mansa in the state of Rio de Janeiro for over 25 years, where several of his students have trained and won national and international ABADÁ-Capoeira titles, including our recent guest, Instrutora Bombom.
Mestrando Pretinho was introduced to Capoeira by his older brother at age nine. In 2017, Mestre Camisa awarded him the prestigious title of Mestrando.

We had an incredible Aulão this past weekend, and we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us! The energy was electric, the roda was vibrant, and the lessons were truly memorable. A special thank you goes to our esteemed guest Graduados and Instrutores from San Francisco and teachers, Professor Ferrugem and Professora Sereia. Their presence brought a unique depth and dynamism to our training, and we are so fortunate to have experienced their wisdom and skill firsthand.
Professor Ferrugem, with his agile movements and tactical mind, shared insights on the importance of strategy and flow in Capoeira, reminding us all that every movement is an opportunity to express oneself while respecting the jogo. Meanwhile, Professora Sereia captivated us with her grace and fluidity, teaching us the beauty of seamless transitions and the power of rhythm. Together, they inspired us to push our boundaries and embrace the full spectrum of Capoeira's possibilities. Thank you, Professor Ferrugem and Professora Sereia, for such enriching classes!
