🌟 Obrigado, Marin Academy!
A big thank you to Marin Academy for inviting us to lead a Capoeira workshop for your amazing students this past Tuesday! This special event was held in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., celebrating his legacy of unity, resilience, and the power of community – values deeply rooted in the essence of Capoeira.
Just as Dr. King’s dream brought people together to overcome division and fight for justice, Capoeira’s movements, music, and philosophy unite individuals from all walks of life in harmony and collaboration. In the roda, much like in life, we learn to adapt, resist, and find balance while respecting and uplifting one another.
We are incredibly grateful to Juliet Dana, Lua’s mom, for inviting ABADÁ-Capoeira Marin to be a part of this meaningful celebration. A heartfelt thank you to Lisa Willoughby, who would also like to extend her gratitude to the Marin Academy teachers who joined us, including Anton Travis (Sol’s dad) and Josh Cherner, for their support.
A special shout-out to Tumi Bui, our dedicated Capoeira teacher assistant, who did an amazing job helping make the event a success. Together, we brought the spirit of axé to honor Dr. King’s vision of unity and equality.
Thank you, Marin Academy, for letting us share Capoeira and its powerful message of resilience and community! 🙌💚
